My B2R Road shoe review

Hi, before I get into the review I think it's important to talk about myself. I've been running off and on for about 8 years. I've been "performance running" for 3 years. A huge, huge thanks to Eric for showing those videos on how to forefoot strike. The main reason I run because it keeps me in shape and forces me to eat better. I'm currently running 30+ miles/week. I only race 1 to 2 races a year. And I'm currently training for my first 50k trail race. Now I'm going to review the shoe.I purchased a size 11.5 red road B2R shoe back in December 2012. When I first pulled them out of the box I was thrilled. They're very light. Tried them on, feels great. Nice, soft material inside. I walked inside the house, wow, nice, talk about comfort like they were made for my feet.Keep in mind that I have Morton's toe and my left foot is actually 1/4 inch longer than my right so getting the size was a bit challenging. So with my foot issue I have a 1/2 inch of space at the end of the toe-box on the right and 1/4 inch on the left. The next morning I had to go on a run in them. My initial response was ,"wow, soooo lightweight" So I continued on my run. I went on an easy 3 mile run. By the end of the run I can already feel some burn in my muscles. This is good, really good. But I also realized this is going to be a real slow process but I'm patient, at least people have told me that anyways.Okay so over the course of a few months of running in these (twice a week)I have been aware of these shoes capabilities. Even though these shoes are classified exclusively as a "road shoe" I still wanted to test them in varying terrain. I took them through some wet grass, not good, my feet got wet. I've ran on some equestrian trails with hard pack dirt with loose pebbles, not bad, a little slipping on initial contact with ground. So running on hard pack dirt is ok but be mindful of your footing. This shoe obviously works its magic on sidewalks and street. Absolutely no issues on the road. Period. The insole gave me some issues, it kept slipping so I tried cutting the slit a little longer, no improvement. I decided to run without the insoles with socks on. Much better, no interruption.I do not recommend running in these without socks as I have 2 blisters along inside of my forefoot just below my big toe on each foot. But then again it could be a sizing issue. I might be better off with a size 11.The bottom line, the B2R road shoes are amazing. I highly recommend these to any runner with a forefoot strike. I'm starting to see " the dimmer light" it keeps getting brighter and brighter.Hope this helps! : )

Pain in lower calf muscle

Hello everyone, last week during my tempo run I got a sudden sharp pain in my left lower calf muscle. It was as if a demon came out of the dirt and whipped it, lol. So I immediately slowed down to a jog and every step was painful after that. So when I got home I iced it and took ibuprofen and then took 4 days off from running. Then yesterday I tried jogging on it and it still hurts. I jogged for about 20 minutes  to see if it would go away as I  warmed up but it did not. I have had soreness in my lower calves before this incident and was able to ignore the pain and keep running but this particular one keeps on lingering, it frustrates me, I want to run!! I am a converted 4foot striker (4 months approx.), run on vintage puma roma's, I run at least 30 miles a week including intervals, and go on long endurance runs every other weekend. I also do Eric's 4foot strike drill all the time, and I do lunges, squats, a little running backwards, push ups, etc. I don't jump too much because my lower calves get irritated. So can anyone give me advice or has anyone had similar experience? I greatly appreciate it.

P.S.

Born to Run was an awesome book! Thank you everyone.
